How to Stay Safe As a Model<\/p>\n
Be cautious because the Internet is unregulated. Make sure you do your research before applying to any modelling agency, to ensure they\u2019re legitimate.
\nApproach websites with no address or phone number with caution, and if possible get advice from someone who knows the industry before engaging with a new agency.
\nHaving the right portfolio is critical to your success as a model. Simply having pictures isn\u2019t enough \u2013 you need to have the right pictures \u2013 for your look, and for the agencies you\u2019re applying to.
\nTrust your instincts and don\u2019t be afraid to say NO. If one agency wants to book you, it\u2019s highly likely others will too, so never ignore that niggling feeling that something isn\u2019t right.
\nNever pay an agency to be on their books. They make money from the commission \u2028they get from getting you work, so they get paid when you do.
\nNever sign a contract or release form without reading and understanding its contents. Once you\u2019ve signed a contract you\u2019re tied into the terms it stipulates, so it\u2019s important to understand exactly what you\u2019re agreeing to.
\nNever travel overseas on the promise of work or part with money with anyone online. Models should never have to commit their own money before making money!
\nAlways carry your passport, and make sure your passport is valid. Make sure to carry two forms of ID too, so you can lock your passport up in a safe place on arrival.
